Arthen: The Man of the East -- Chapter 7

Cloak
of Reverence
His cloak absorbed magic. It blasted the traps ahead of his passageway.
He lit all the torches for a well-lighted
pathway. The rats ran from the
light. Several climbed down the center
of the mine. A bolt of spark balls flew
from the bottom of the center of the mine.
Skeletons roamed free from the tomb.
One of them rattled off about the Tomb of Eastern Realm.
Squaz paused his thought process
and wanted to investigate this Tomb of Eastern Realm. His vision could spot any secret doors or tablets
on the floor. Then something flashing
red forced him to levitate down and examined the lever in the wall. It was a chain with a ring for pulling on
it. He tugged at it and mysteriously the
wall opened with a spiral staircase.
The torches lit up in a neon blue
with white tips at the top of each flame.
Squaz stayed on his guard as he crept down the steps. His five senses could relay that something
was wrong, but it had to be done with him solving this mystery. The smell was a crisp of heat from a lava
source or demon. He read about lava boys
being in Astorie Realm. His knowledge
about them was using ice spells on them.
Molten lava heat started filling up
the area. Then something made of the
molten rock had some chains latched in its back limbs. It appeared to be a prisoner. Squaz felt sad for the demon. He sensed a living heart in it. He knew this feeling was odd for his
awareness. He needed to sneak closer but
not startled it.
It was etched with chains from the
shoulder limbs of the Molten Rock demon.
It cried out several times. The cry
shrieked up and down in tone. Squaz
hollered at it if it was in trouble. It didn’t
stop until Squaz swung his sword at its feet.
Then it stopped and sat on a rock of dry molten. It wanted to know if he could yank out these
hooks from its back.
Squaz tugged out the first one with
all his might. It looked like the lava
demon was in a little pain from the rescue.
It wanted him to keep going until all the hooks were out. Squaz spent several hours dealing with the molten
lava demon. Then it changed into a plump
woman. Squaz called out its true form.
The fire woman was named Sizz. She thanked Squaz for rescuing her from the torture. She granted him with the heart of Lava
Rock. This jewel would hide you from
heat vision of Jules the Almighty Majesty.
He accepted the gift and Sizz evaporated into thin air. There the kind spirit explained that her soul
was bound by that Lava Rock.
“What kept you here kind spirit?”
“You would learn that as your
journey through the mountain.”
He smiled a little. Then he climbed the spiral staircase. Still, something was rattling the heavy
chains. Squaz peeked over the ledge. He wondered what was that large. There he heard words from the Seers of Five.
“Come discuss your fate child.”
He bumped into an engravement ladder. He started climbing upwards. The steps were slippery with moss. He smacked his chin on a step. It became bloody from the little spikes in
the moss. The top was blocked by a
wooden panel. He punched it with his
forearm. Then it broke into pieces.
Squaz pulled himself to the next
floor. It had five tombs in it. There were nameplates in front of each
tomb. They were dingy and stained. He rubbed one off with a rag. The name was Bilinda, the Eldest sister. His curiosity forced him to open it by
pushing the top level off it. There was
a skeleton holding something in its hands.
It was a black box. Another time
and he pulled it out of the hands. It was
made from marble. He pushed the center button,
and it released the locks at the top. He
flipped it open. It had some white
ashes.
A whirlpool of a twister appeared from
the black box. The white ashes formed a
transparent spirit. Squaz placed the
black box on the floor. The spirit
coughed a little bit. Before it spoke to
him.
“Take my bones of my chest cavity
to the top on the mountain, please.”
